What are they trying to sell us in pop culture?
When the stars sing, tweet, and suddenly educate you to think “right”
Once upon a time, pop stars were all about one thing: pop.
Want to sing about love, about heartbreak, about partying in swimsuits in August? – A pleasure.
Today?
If a singer hasn’t written at least one post about the “fascist regime,”
one tweet about “apartheid,”
and one performance with a flag of something that isn’t Israel –
she’s probably not considered “socially aware.”
Because in the culture of 2025,
music is a soundtrack –
and ideology is the melody.
Those who fake politics – no longer make the playlist
An Israeli singer wants to reach the pinnacle?
He should come with an appropriate opinion:
Priority to expressing “pain from the situation,”
a song against “hatred and extremism,”
and a bonus – some rap line like:
“I don’t choose a side, I just want to live,
but the one who ran away – she’s like Sister…”
Hebrew translation:
He is against “everything” – and for “good”.
And most importantly:
He will not say a single good word about the country, unless it is cynical.
Television is also getting a briefing – what is right to think
Remember when there was a comedy without Agenda?
Simple laughs, without knowing who you’re voting for?
Today – every series is a lesson in citizenship:
- The soldier is depressed, authority is ridiculed.
- The Dos is dark, the traditionalists are closed.
- The settler – half-fanatic.
- The Arab? Enlightened, pleasant, and also vegan.
And in between – there’s always a random LGBT character, a farmer struck by reality, and a journalist who is the tragic hero of us all.
Satire? Once it bit – today it itches where they scratch in Tel Aviv
Satire was supposed to break taboos,
make fun of the powerful,
annoy – everyone.
But today?
“Satire” in Israel is a comedy party between members of the editorial board of “Haaretz”.
Everyone laughs at the same people,
with the same characters:
the bibist, the douche, the settler, the immigrant from Russia, the immigrant from Ethiopia (if it’s not appropriate – it’s removed in the editors).
And of course: left-wing figures, the media, intellectuals – don’t touch. This is the “sacred place of secularization.”
And what about our children?
They consume all of this from morning to night:
On TikTok – influencers who recite empty clichés about “occupation” and “exclusion.”
On YouTube – content creators who explain why “tradition is not suitable for our generation.”
And on Netflix – every second series is about a 12-year-old girl who saves the world from a heteronormative capitalist monster, while discovering herself as a 13-year-old, a 17-year-old, and a penguin.
So what are we actually being sold?
That Israel is a problem, not a solution.
That tradition is a burden, not a root.
That family is an ancient capitalist structure.
And if you don’t cooperate with this – you are “not open enough”.
In other words:
Pop culture today is not culture – it is propaganda with drums and a guitar.
The right-wing conclusion: consume – but think
No one is saying that you should stop listening to songs, watching series or following Stars.
But it’s important to remember:
If everyone says the same thing – maybe it’s not a coincidence.
And if everyone who thinks differently is silenced, ridiculed, or not given a platform –
Then it’s no longer culture.
It’s a campaign.
So what is it?
- Look for brave creators – there are some, even on the right.
- Support a culture that has both tradition, identity, and love for the country.
- And don’t apologize for wanting art – without propaganda.
