What Are They Really Selling Us as “Truth”

מה מנסים למכור לנו בשם האמת

When Every Post Is Spin and Every “Investigation” Is Written from the Couch?

Once, “truth” was heavy.

It required work.
Verification.
Field reporting.
Sweat.

Today?

Truth comes with a filter, background music, and a caption:
“You HAVE to watch this till the end.”

Welcome to an era where
everyone is a journalist,
every post is an investigation,
and every “exposé” is written between a Netflix episode and a food delivery.

The question is no longer what is true.

The question is:

Who convinced you first.

Truth Became a Product

Truth did not disappear.

It got rebranded.

Today, it is sold.

In your feed.
In your stories.
In headlines with three exclamation marks.

Once, an article explained.

Now, it markets.

Not “what happened,”
but “how you should feel about what happened.”

That is the real shift.

Because emotion sells better than facts.

Spin: Not a Lie – Just a Convenient Story

Spin is not a lie.

It is selection.

What to highlight.
What to hide.
What to turn into drama.

The same event can be:

“A strategic success”
or
“A historic failure”

Depends on who is telling it.

And the viewer?

Gets the story, not the reality.

Because reality is boring.

Stories are addictive.

Couch Investigations

The new generation of “journalists” does not go to the field.

It goes to Twitter.

Collects posts.
Screenshots opinions.
Zooms into shaky videos.
And declares:
“Exposed.”

No witnesses.
No documents.
No accountability.

But plenty of confidence.

Because today, you do not need to be right.

You just need to sound right.

The Media: Lost Monopoly, Found Panic

Once, the media controlled the truth.

Now it competes for it.

With influencers.
With Telegram channels.
With anyone holding a smartphone.

The response?

More drama.
More headlines.
More “exclusive revelations.”

Because if everyone is shouting-

you have to shout louder.

And so, instead of verifying information, the system competes for attention.

The Algorithm: The Real Editor

There is a new editor in town.

It is not human.

It is code.

The algorithm does not ask if something is true.

It asks:

Is it emotional?
Is it extreme?
Does it make you stop scrolling?

If yes – it rises.

If not – it disappears.

Truth?

Often fails the test.

Politics: Spin as Policy

Politicians figured it out early.

You do not need to win reality.

You need to win the narrative.

Event happens ⬅️
Statement released ⬅️
Frame it ⬅️
Blame someone ⬅️
Explain ⬅️
Move on.

And the public?

Chases versions.

Like a TV series with too many seasons and no ending.

The Public: Victim and Accomplice

Here comes the uncomfortable part:

We are part of the problem.

We click exaggerated headlines.
We share before reading.
We react before checking.

Truth takes time.

Spin gives instant satisfaction.

Guess which one we choose.

So What Are They Actually Selling?

Not information.

Not facts.

They sell:

Emotion
Identity
Belonging
A sense of moral clarity

When someone says “this is the truth,”

what they often mean is:

“This is the version that will make you feel right.”

The Bottom Line

Truth did not disappear.

It drowned in noise.

Between posts, tweets, couch investigations, and opinions with good lighting.

The challenge today is not finding information.

It is filtering it.

And understanding one simple rule:

If it sounds too dramatic, too clear, too perfect-

it is probably not truth.

It is a product.

And in today’s reality,

we are all customers.
