Not because it is more right – because it determines reality … and it’s not romantic, it’s not pretty – but it’s true.
The phrase “His Hand Against Everyone, Everyone’s Hand Against Him” continues to resonate in discussions of Middle Eastern history.
And that says something interesting about the Bible.
Maybe the word “awakening” is not accurate … because it’s not that we woke up from something – we remembered.
We remembered who we are, where we live … and what the price of forgetting is.
So is European culture terminally ill? Probably not.
But it certainly sometimes looks like a person who comes to the doctor with a long list of symptoms: identity confusion, political fatigue, and a little too much ideology on an empty stomach.

Perhaps this will be one of the great ironies of history: the empire that liberated the Jews – will find itself, thousands of years later, moving toward freedom because of those same Jews.
The Book of Esther is not just a story about a distant past, it is a reminder that dangerous rhetoric can become policy, and that policy can become reality.
The title will always sound intellectual, sensitive, balanced…
But inside? Same story, over and over again: Israel is strong, and therefore guilty.
“Arab Christians” is a historical oxymoron. They are not Arabs – they are descendants of the ancient peoples of the Levant who were conquered, Arabized, and pushed into a corner. Some are starting to realize it. Others still live the illusion.
